Cereda Sant'Andrea Square (Cornedo Vicentino) with the new energy-saving GDS LED lamps has been officially opened on Saturday the 4th of June after a remarkable restoration.
The 45 LED model of artistic lamps that light up the square has been named "Cereda", in honor of the village where the company resides.
The 26 lamps installed in Cereda, will have an energy saving of approximately 55% compared to commonly used sodium lamps.
In one year, the small municipality will have a total saving of
€ 1,049.00. Considering that the average public lighting of a city of 100,000 residents has about 6000 lamps, would result in an annual savings of approximately € 245,000.00.
The lamps installed in Cereda will prevent the emission of around 40 tonnes of CO2 in 20 years (the equivalent of 25 trees producing oxygen). Moreover, the optical characteristics of the LED light does not cause light pollution and does not mar the natural beauty of the nocturnal surroundings.
LED lighting systems are the new trend of public lighting constantly looking for a "green" light source, without mercury, sodium or other pollutants.
